Reportage on the TIRO lab (Oncology Imaging and Radiotherapy Transporters), an interdisciplinary structure within the Medicine Department of Nice University in France, grouping clinicians and biologists. The fundamental research is devoted to providing answers to the clinicians’ needs. One of the lab’s aims is to develop a precise molecular diagnosis for cancer, by identifying its metabolome from samples taken. The molecular characteristics of the tumour should enable the oncologist to provide treatment adapted to each patient. Proteomics: identification of proteins present in the samples. The samples are loaded into the electrophoresis gel enabling proteins to be separated and extracted.
